TOHUM The Autism Foundation continues to expand its “Supported Employment Model” launched to enable people with autism to participate equally and sustainably in the workplace. In this regard, an important opportunity is being provided to companies to employ autistic individuals through the grant provided under the IŞKUR’s Disabled and Ex-Prisoner Grant Support Program.

Autism is seen in 1 in 31 children today. While 1 in 2,500 children were diagnosed with autism in 1985, despite this rate reaching today, individuals with autism still have difficulty accessing qualified educational environments, are not accepted in workplaces, and have to struggle with major issues regarding being a part of social life and life as a whole.

The Autism Foundation, which has been operating in Turkey since TOHUM 2003 to integrate autistic children into society as independent and productive individuals, invites the business community to explore the great potential offered by neurodiversity and contribute to the widespread adoption of inclusive employment within the scope of the Neurodiversity Week.

The TOHUM Autism Foundation, which has been a pioneer in ensuring that children with autism in Turkey have access to early diagnosis and quality education, brought together brought together more than 400 prominent figures from the worlds of business, the arts, and society around a shared cause.

The TOHUM Autism Foundation, which has been working since 2003 to draw attention to the importance of early diagnosis for children with autism in Turkey and to strengthen access to scientifically based special education, is developing projects to ensure that every child can access education on equal terms.

TOHUM The Autism Foundation and Boyner have signed an important partnership to increase the participation of individuals with autism in the workforce and ensure their long-term employment in the retail sector. Under the project, a total of six individuals with autism will be employed in three different Boyner stores located in Istanbul. 

TOHUM The Autism Foundation has added another special education class to the “Every Class One” TOHUM project it runs to support access to education for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (OSD).

TOHUM Autism Foundation reiterated its ‘Turn a Red Light on Autism’ call this year again to increase social awareness so that the needs of individuals with autism are better understood and they have equal rights with everyone alongside all their differences.

Autism, a complex neuro-developmental difference that is often noticed in the first years of life, was described as a congenital condition and was seen in 1 in 2,500 children in 1985; however, according to recent research, it is now seen in 1 in 36 children.

The Tourism and Transport Operators Association (TUİDER) has undertaken a meaningful social responsibility activity to mark the first year of its establishment. The association took autistic children and their families attending education institutions at the TOHUM Otizm Vakfı to visit the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Anıtkabir in Ankara as part of the “10-16 November Atatürk Week.”.
