TOHUM Autism Foundation carries out pioneering work in the field of employment as well as education in order to ensure the full participation of individuals with autism in society. As TOHUM Autism Foundation, we support individuals with autism to take part in working life as productive and independent individuals through the supported employment model, job coaching training programs, and collaborations we develop with institutions.
Supported employment is an inclusive employment model that enables individuals with autism to participate in working life through supports structured according to their individual needs. This approach aims not only at job placement, but also at a long-term, productive, and sustainable working process in the workplace. The main stages of the model include individual assessment, job analysis, appropriate job-individual matching, on-the-job support, and regular follow-up. Job coaches involved in the process analyze the individual's strengths, evaluate the requirements of the job, and provide support plans. This model also makes a significant contribution to the spread of an inclusive employment culture in society. The main reason individuals with autism cannot participate in working life after education is the lack of adequate support mechanisms. The supported employment model fills this gap and transforms the individual's potential into productivity.
Individual Assessment: The strengths, areas of interest, and support needs of the autistic individual are analyzed.
Workplace Analysis: Suitability is determined by evaluating job requirements and the working environment.
Matching and Placement: Placement is carried out by making the most suitable job-individual matching.
On-site Support: A business coach provides on-the-job training and guidance to the individual.
Monitoring and Tracking: The post-placement process is monitored and supports are updated if necessary.
An employment coach is professional support that facilitates the adaptation of both the individual with autism and the employer to the process. The employment coach analyzes the individual's strengths, evaluates the job requirements, and offers support plans.
Individuals with autism possess strong strengths that make a difference in business life, such as a focus on details, systematic working, adherence to rules, and high attention. Thanks to these skills, they can exhibit high performance, especially in repetitive and routine-requiring tasks. The employment of autistic individuals is not only a social responsibility, but also provides important contributions in terms of increasing corporate productivity, strengthening employee engagement, and developing intra-team diversity. Additionally, through employment, the individual's self-confidence increases, their family's care burden decreases, and social participation is strengthened. This transformation is felt not only at the individual level, but also at the corporate and societal levels.
TOHUM Autism Foundation implements a sustainable, structured, and professional employment model to support the participation of individuals with autism in working life. The efforts carried out within this scope include multidimensional applications such as corporate consulting, job analysis, job coach training, and awareness training for teams.
Job coaching is a professional approach that supports sustainable employment by guiding both individuals with autism and employers through the processes of job placement and workplace integration. TOHUM The Job Coaching Training Program, developed by the Autism Foundation, offers structured content tailored for professionals working in the field, such as special education teachers, psychologists, social workers, human resources professionals, and corporate trainers. Prepared on the basis of the supported employment model, this program equips participants with field-ready skills through its practical content. In addition, customized training and mentoring solutions are provided to organizations so that employers can train their own staff as job coaches, thereby increasing in-house capacity and making support systems sustainable.
Supported employment projects are planned and professional support practices aimed at promoting the participation of individuals with special needs, particularly those with autism, in the workforce in accordance with their individual competencies. These projects are supported within the scope of the “Disabled and Ex-Convict Project Supports” carried out by İŞKUR.
