TOHUM Special Education Classroom Renewed in Ataşehir with the Support of the Autism Foundation and Istanbul Private Saint-Joseph French High School
TOHUM conducted by the Autism Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education “Every Class is a TOHUM” within the scope of the project, with the support of Istanbul Private Saint-Joseph French High School The special education class at Istanbul Ataşehir Necatibey Primary School has been renovated. Renewed through the contributions of Istanbul Private Saint-Joseph French High School toward education and social benefit, the special education classroom aims to support children with autism in accessing high-quality, inclusive, and sustainable educational environments. Equipped with special education materials tailored to the students' individual developmental needs, the classroom goes beyond being merely a physical learning space by embracing a holistic educational approach that encompasses teachers, families, school administration, and peers.

TOHUM On behalf of the Autism Foundation, Training R&D and Projects Director Dr. Nursinem Şirin and foundation officials attended the ceremony. Representing Istanbul Private Saint-Joseph French High School, which supported the renewal process, Principal Paul Yves Georges, Measurement and Evaluation Specialist Ömür Akarsu, and representatives involved in the project took part in the ceremony.

Supporting the renovated special education classroom at Istanbul Ataşehir Necatibey Primary School, the Private Istanbul Saint-Joseph French High School aims to continue its contributions to education and social benefit in the upcoming period. In this context, the institution plans to renovate two more new classrooms in two different schools located in Hatay’s Defne district during 2026. These supports aim to make a significant contribution to strengthening access to quality special education in the disaster-affected region.
“About the Every Classroom is a TOHUM Project...
“As part of the ”Every Classroom is TOHUM" project, special education classrooms in public schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education are supported with educational materials tailored to the individual needs of the students. Within the project, training sessions are held for teachers, student families, school administrations, and peers, thereby implementing an inclusive education model. Furthermore, through the Teachers Community, consisting of special education teachers involved in the project, teachers' knowledge is updated, their feedback is gathered, and continuous communication and support are provided. With this project, the TOHUM Autism Foundation continues to strengthen special education classes for children with autism across Turkey, support children with autism in accessing their right to education, and contribute to the widespread adoption of an inclusive education approach in society.
